Mesa men's golf takes second at Thunderbird Classic

Tournament results

  MESA, AZ - The Mesa men's golf team finished second at their own tournament, the Thunderbird Classic, which concluded Sunday at the Lone Tree G.C..

  The T-Birds shot a 284-288--572, finishing behind South Mountain which closed at 278-273--551.

  T.J. Kathrineberg was Mesa's best finisher, tying for eighth place at 72-69--141.

  Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert,AZ/Mesquite H.S.) was ninth with a 68-74--142 and Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (AZ) H.S.) tied for tenth, recording a 71-72--143.

  The T-Birds will host NCAA Wabash Monday at the Dobson Ranch G.C. before playing in the NJCAA Preview in Scottsboro, Ala., Thursday through Saturday. That will be the site of the NJCAA Division II national championship in May.
