Orlando Gonzales commits to Nelson Universtiy

MCC Men's Basketball sharpshooter Orlando Gonzales has committed to Nelson University.

Formerly known as SAGU American Indian College, Nelson University is located in Phoenix, AZ and is a member of the NCCAA.

The Warriors just made program history as they made a deep run in the NAACC national tournament bringing home third place.

Gonzales will add sharpshooting to the Warriors as he had a historic sophomore year as a T-Bird scoring 17.3 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field and from three-point range.

In 2023-24 Gonzales joined the 500 career point club, had back-to-back 30 point games, and scored 29 points on 8-10 shooting from deep against a top 15 program in Chandler-Gilbert.

Gonzales not only brings scoring to Nelson University but also the ability to facilitate and set his teammates up for success. Averaging a little under four assists in his sophomore season Gonzales set a new career high in dimes in a single game with nine against South Mountain Community College while committing zero turnovers.
