Mesa Basketball travels to Tucson for pivotal conference contests on Wednesday

MCC Basketball rolls into Pima on Wednesday for ACCAC battles as both the men and women have a lot to play for.

Women's Basketball:

The No. 4 Lady T-Birds come in with a 19-4 record (14-3 ACCAC). Mesa is on a program high 11 game winning streaks after their most recent victory over Scottsdale on Wednesday.

Pima comes in right behind the Lady T-Birds with an 18-6 record (13-4 ACCAC) as they sit at No. 14 in the country. The Lady Aztecs are also on a hot streak as they've won their last six games after their dominant 92-53 victory over DI opponent Yavapai College on Saturday.

This will be the third and final match of the regular season for these two teams as MCC won a thriller on Dec. 9, 73-72 and a hard fought battle on Jan 20, 54-50.

Currently MCC holds the No. 1 seed when it comes to DII teams in the conference, Pima trails the Lady T-Birds by just one game, this will be a big game for either team when it comes to playoff seeding.

Men's Basketball:

The T-Birds seem to be piecing it all together as they've won their last two games, entering play on Wednesday with a 7-15 record (5-11 ACCAC). Mesa got a big win over Scottsdale on Saturday, winning 80-84 they kept themselves in the hunt for the postseason which rapidly approaches.

Pima comes in ranked No. 15 in the nation as they hold a 21-3 record (13-3 ACCAC). The Aztecs are on a roll winning their last seven games including a 100-90 victory over Yavapai College on Saturday.

This will be the third and final meeting between the two teams as Pima won the first meeting on Dec. 9, 109-88 and their more recent game on Jan. 20, 91-62.

With how Mesa started off their season every game for them is a almost a must win for them if they hope to make the postseason. Currently MCC sits in the No. 5 seed looking in as they trail Glendale and Scottsdale (who sit above MCC in the standings) by one win.

Both games will be played at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
