MCC Men's Basketball snapped the program's longest losing streak (10) on Saturday with a commanding 105-77 victory over South Mountain. The T-Birds broke the century mark for the first time this season in the victory.

The Thunderbirds came out with intensity and energy in the first half and it reflected on the scoreboard as they posted 46 points, the most in the first half of any game this season. The T-Birds seemed to be automatic from the field as they shot 17-27 (63%) and were 7-11 from deep (63.6%).

Both Mason Guiseppi and Orlando Gonzales were extremely efficient from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Gonzales had 11 points on 3-5 shooting (3-4 from deep), and Guiseppi scored 10 points on 4-6 shooting from the field (2-4 from deep).

Lual Lual had a great first half off the bench as he had eight points and was 4-4 from the field with eight rebounds. The Thunderbirds stayed consistent in the half as they staved off Cougar runs and built their lead to as many as 19 points ending the half on a 15-8 run.

The second half was similar to the first as the T-Birds were even more efficient from the field going 24-33 from the floor (72.7%) and 3-5 (60%) from downtown.

MCC kept their foot on the gas as they had a strong half defensively holding the Cougars to 9-28 shooting from the field (32.1%).

With the win Mesa improves their record to 5-14 (3-10 ACCAC). The Thunderbirds will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Chandler-Gilbert.
