MCC Men's Basketball losing streak was extended to four games on Wednesday night as they came up short against Arizona Western College 85-70. With the loss Mesa's overall record falls to 4-8 (2-4 ACCAC).

Mesa held tough with AWC in the first half despite shooting 33.3% from the floor while AWC shot 40.6%. The three-point shooting from the Thunderbirds is what helped them go into the halftime locker room tied up as they hit 5-12 from behind the arc.

The second half went the way of the Matadors early as AWC would start the half off on an 11-5 run and would push their lead to as much as 17 at one point. It seemed as though AWC could not miss in the second half as they shot 65.4% from the field while hitting five three-pointers in the process.

MCC didnt shoot the ball poorly in the second half as they connected 45.7% of the time, but the Matadors were just too much in the half as they would secure the victory over Mesa.

AWC had five players in double figures, led by Matija Gledic who had 19 on the night to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

MCC did a good job of getting everyone involved as they had four players in double figures led by Pearse Long who had 18 points to go along with a season high six blocks. Anthony Garcia provided a boost to the bench with 17 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc.

MCC will be back in action on Saturday as they hit the road to take on Chandler-Gilbert CC in another conference contest.
