Men's Basketball looks to take down the Bears on Wednesday night

MCC Men's Basketball looks to get back on track on Wednesday as they host Phoenix College for a ACCAC matchup.

The Thunderbirds come into play on Wednesday with a 3-4 overall record (1-2 ACCAC). Mesa is coming off a 109-88 loss at the hands of No. 14 Pima CC on Saturday. Jaelon Israel led the scoring for MCC with 20 while Lual Lual had another double double as he had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Phoenix College comes in as the only winless team in the ACCAC with a 0-9 overall mark (0-3 ACCAC). The Bears fell to Scottsdale in the last game, 85-73.

Both teams have taken on Eastern Arizona College and Pima CC. Both the Bears and Thunderbirds were beaten by EAC and PCC. Phoenix College lost by an average of 51.5 points and MCC by an average of 26 points.

The game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at Theo Heap Gymnasium. admission is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

Thunderbird Keys to the Game:

  • Stay out of foul trouble: In their last two games MCC is averaging 26.5 fouls. Against Glendale Lual Lual fouled out, while Anthony Garcia, Orlando Gonzales, Mason Guiseppi, and Tyson Wheeler all had four personals. Against Pima it was a similar story as Tyson Wheeler fouled out while four other Thunderbirds had four fouls. Those fouls led to Glendale shooting 28 free throws and Pima hoisting 33. Mesa must stay out of foul trouble against the Bears who are the best free throw shooting team in the conference, connecting at a 78.8% rate.

  • Crash the glass: The Bears are not particularly strong when it comes to rebounding, grabbing just 28.2 per contest PC has a -18.2 rebounding margin so far this season. MCC grabs 37.7 total rebounds per game this year.
