Pima pushes past T-Birds behind strong first half.

The men's basketball team fell to Pima Saturday afternoon, 79-72 bringing their overall record to 6-8, and their ACCAC record to 2-5.

Pima controlled the first half of the game as they shot 48% from the field and 54% from deep, while MCC shot just 33% from the field and 25% from the three point line. The Aztecs took a 42-29 lead into the halftime locker room. 

In the second half, Mesa clawed their way back into the game as they were able to cut the lead to as little as two but were never able to regain the advantage. They shot better from the floor in the final period as they were 38% from the field and 27% from deep. Mesa outscored Pima 43-37 in the second half.

MCC had four players score in double figures as Timmy Johnson had a bounce back game scoring 17 points for his team. Nicholas Riley and Tampa Scott each had 16 while Lual Lual again almost had a double-double as he had 12 points and nine rebounds.

For Pima, Cesar Saenz had a game high 27, Traivar Jackson had a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards, while Jaylen Alexander and Jamison Kay tallied 12 points in the win. 

The Thunderbirds will hit the road for their next two as they will travel to Yavapai Wednesday, and Phoenix College Saturday.
