The men's basketball team fell to Chandler-Gilbert Saturday afternoon 85-70, as they now have an overall record of 5-2, with a conference record of 1-2.

The Thunderbirds were in control in the first half as they were able to create buckets off turnovers against the Coyotes. Tampa Scott came out on fire to start the game as he scored 12 in the first half. Mesa led by as many as 10 at some points in the first half but a late push by CGCC sparked by a Kingdom Artis slam had the teams going into the halftime locker room knotted at 36 a piece.

In the second half the Coyotes took control as Mesa wasn't able to knock down shots at the rate they did in the first half. CGCC outscored MCC in the second half 34-49 as they secured the victory to win their 8th in a row.

Mesa was led in scoring by Evan Clayton who had 19, followed by Timmy Johnson who added 16 points for the Thunderbirds.

Mesa will hit the road for the first time this season in their next game as they will travel to Arizona Western on Dec. 7.
