The men's basketball team improved their regular season record to 2-0 after they defeated Taylor Made Prep, 105-76.

The Thunderbirds offense was clicking yet again Saturday afternoon, as they put up 105 points in the contest. They were led by Timmy Johnson who had 26 points and shot 69% from the field. Johnson had multiple and-one opportunities at the line and made the most of those chances as he went 6-8 from the free throw stripe.

The first half was a closer battle than most thought it would be, as Mesa held a two point lead going into halftime, 46-48. Mesa's shots weren't dropping at the expected rate as they shot 40.9% from the field while only shooting 21.1% from behind the arc. Taylor Made Prep was able to shoot 51.6% from the field while shooting 50% from three point range.

In the second half Mesa was able to tighten up defensively as they only gave up 30 points in the second half. On the offensive side The T-Birds shot better after the break as they were 52.2% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc. Much like in the contest against Bella Vista, Mesa was able to start the second half on a run and never looked back.

Defensive pressure from the Thunderbirds and pushing the pace were two key impacts on the game for Mesa. The team caused 28 Taylor Made Prep turnovers and were able to turn them into 34 points off turnovers. With the Thunderbirds fast athletic guards looking to push the ball any chance they could even off made baskets, Mesa racked up 34 fastbreak points.

This is the first game since Jan. 11, 2017 that the Thunderbirds have scored 100 or more points in a regular season contest.

The team will be in action again Nov. 9 as they take on Skyline Prep at home.
