Mesa, AZ- It wasn't a good night for the T-Birds as they couldn't string good plays together as they fell to the Artichokes at home, 85-76.
Scottsdale seem to do everything right in the first half, and at around the 15 minute mark, the Artichokes went on an 11-2 run to take a 21-10 lead.
But Mesa battled back, getting big shots from Trevor Johnson and Brandon Dixon, helping Mesa go a streak of their own, tieing the game at 24 with 6:36 left in the first half.
The T-Birds just couldn't get hold of the lead and the Artichokes again put the pedal to the medal and went on a 15-4 run to close the half and take the halftime lead at 39-28.
Brandon Dixon came out with the hot hand for the T-Birds in the second half as he quickly connected on two three pointers. That sparked Mesa into more offense, as Kyle Bingham and Obi Megwa contributed a couple buckets and Mesa narrowed the Artichoke lead to 42-38.
The Artichokes though used another scoring streak to get a big lead, as they went on a 8-2 run to extend their lead to 50-40 at the 14:36 mark.
From then on out, Mesa couldn't overcome the deficit. Mesa shot just 39 percent from the field, while the Artichokes shot 45 percent from the field.
Mesa is now 8-5 in the ACCAC. The T-Birds will play two away games next week, Wednesday at Arizona Western and Saturday at Phoenix College.
