Mesa Baseball split their final series of the season with Chandler-Gilbert over the weekend.

Mesa was able to win a thrilling 3-2 game on Friday over the Coyotes. Andrew Plutt came up big for the T-Birds in the victory, striking out two of the three batters he face in the ninth including gettin his final strikeout with the bases loaded in a one run game.

On Saturday the game did not go the way of the T-Birds as they fell 17-6 in eight innings. Mesa gave up 18 hits and three innings of three or more runs including a seven run 8th inning which would end the ballgame.

A bright spot on an otherwise disappointing day for MCC on Saturday was Sam McAleer who went 4-5 while scoring two runs.

Even with the loss on Saturday Mesa is still in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the division.

With the season dwindling down Mesa will need to tighten up down the stretch in order stay in control of their own destiny. MCC has six conference games left in their season as they will play a home and home series against Phoenix College, Gateway, and Scottsdale.

The T-Birds have gone 4-2 in the previous six games against those three teams combined.
