Record 22 T-Birds earn NJCAA academic honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A record 22 Mesa student-athletes have earned NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards for the just-completed 2014-15 year.
In order to qualify for the award student-athletes must have a minimum 3.60 GPA while earning at least 12 credit hours.
The 22 awards were the most Mesa has earned since the recognition was instituted in 2005-06. MCC's previous high was 19, two years ago. Last year 18 Thunderbirds were honored.
Two T-Birds, Evan Fresquez, of baseball, and Kevin McMahon, of mens tennis, received the Pinnacle Award for posting perfect 4.0 GPAs.
