Carvalho no-hits league-leading Cochise

  DOUGLAS, AZ - No matter who the opponent may be, Mesa's Tyler Carvalho (So., Lancaster, Calif/Paraclete H.S.) keeps coming through.

  Saturday, in the first game of a doubleheader with ACCAC-leader Cochise, ( 18-6, 10-2) he tossed the first no-hitter of his Mesa career as the T-Birds won, 2-0. Cochise took the second game, 3-2.

  Carvalho struck out nine and walked two in his gem. He is now 6-0 with a 0.24 ERA.

  He got all the run support he woulkd need when Mitchell Morimoto (Fr., Issaquah, Wash/Issaquah H.S.) singled home Alex Gudac (So., West Jordan, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic H.S.) in the fourth.

  MCC added a little cushion in the seventh. Jacob Boston (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) singked and evenually scored on a ground ball. 

  Gudac finished 2-3.

  Cochise scored all three of its runs in game two in the third.

  Mesa got a leadoff home run from Morimoto in the second and addred another in the eighth when Jordan Zimmerman (So., Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain H.S.) doubled and, after a ground out, came home on a sacrifice fly by Brady Bate (Fr., Spanish Fork, Utah/Spanish Fork J.S.)

  Morimoto and Zimmerman were both 2-4.

  The T-Birds will host the Arizona Christian University JV team Monday at 3:00 p.m.
