Four in 9th, six in 12th give baseball win over Chandler-Gilbert, 12-6

  CHANDLER, AZ - Mesa scored four in the ninth to tie the game and then erupted for six in the 12th inning to take a 12-6 win at Chandler-Gilbert, MCC's seventh win in a row.

  Trailing 4-2 heading into the ninth inning, the T-Birds 7-0, 4-0) staged another ninth inning rally, this time scoring four runs to force extra innings. 

  Alex Gudac (So., West Jordan, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic H.S.) started things with a base hit. After Jacob Boston (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) reached on a fielder's choice, Logan Etherington (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev/Faith Lutheran H.S.) followed with a single. Then, with two out, Casey Moses (So., North Las Vegas, Nev/Centennial H.S.) singled, Mitchell Morimoto (Fr., Issaquah, Wash/Issaquah H.S.) walked and Brady Bate (Fr., Spanish Fork, Utah/Spanish Fork H.S.) had a base hit that tied the game.

  In the 12th MCC reached CGCC pitching for six runs including doubles by Moses and Gudac, to break the game open.

  Bate wound up 4-6 with three RBIs, while Gudac and Boston had three hits apiece.

  Danny Lutz (So., Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain H.S.) tossed four innings of scoreless, two-hit ball, to pick up the win.

  Mesa will be home Friday taking on the Arizona State University Club Team at 3:00 p.m.
