Men's & Women's XC Both Ranked No. 2 in Final Coaches' Poll

New Orleans, La. - The Mesa Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked no. 2 overall in the final NJCAA Division II Coaches' Poll before the national championship meet next week.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the rankings Wednesday afternoon.

The men's team remained second overall and received two out of the 11 first-place votes. Fellow ACCAC opponent Paradise Valley (3 FPVs) is ranked first and Lansing (MI) (6 FPVs) is ranked third. Heartland (IL) and Cowley (KS) round out the top-five teams.

The lady T-Birds remained second overall as no. 1 Lansing received all 11 FPVs. Heartland, Cowley, Grand Rapids (MI), and Coconino round out the top-five teams (GRCC and CCC are tied for fifth).

Both teams will be vying for their first national title in program history as they will be competing in the 2022 NJCAA Div. II Cross Country Championships next Saturday, November 12th, at Appalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
