Garcia and Brockman Earn Multiple Runner of the Week Honors

Yotuel Garcia and Kate Brockman of the Mesa Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country teams both earned ACCAC runners of the week for their efforts at the Manny Bautista Invite last Friday. Additionally, Brockman earned NJCAA Div. II Women's Runner of the Week honors by the USTFCCCA.

The Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) announced the honors on Tuesday and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) made their announcement on Monday.

Garcia ran a personal-best time of 20:09.3 for four miles and was the runner-up in the men's race. Brockman was the runner-up in the women's race as well and helped the lady T-Birds win the team title.

This is Garcia's third ACCAC honor and Brockman's second ACCAC honor this season. This is also Brockman's second USTFCCCA honor this season.

The cross country teams will head out to California again this weekend as they will run in the UCR Highlander Invitational in Riverside on Saturday the 15th.
