Oscar Ramirez

Oscar Ramirez

Oscar Ramirez is a local boy who made good. After graduating from Marcos de Niza High School, Oscar Ramirez came to MCC and became team captain and quarterback. He not only provided leadership to the squad, he proved to be a vital player in the 74 and 75 ACCAC Championship years. He would be selected as ACCAC All Conference and NJCAA All American both years as well. In 1975, Ramirez led the team to a NJCAA National Championship after an undefeated 10-0season.

His career passing yardage was 2,831 yards on 20 touchdowns. He held a record for best passing percentage for one game, going 16 for 20 (80%) versus Eastern in 1975. Ramirez would stockpile yardage and records that would hold up for nearly 20 years. His 344 total passing yards in a 1975 game against Snow College was a big part of his record for total offensive yards in a season tallying 1,789 yards. He also held the season record for 21 years for the 16 touchdown passes earned in 1975.
