MCC Volleyball travels to take on Central Arizona College on Friday night in an important conference contest for the Lady T-Birds.
MCC rolls in after suffering a 3-0 loss to No. 1 Scottsdale on Wednesday. The match was much closer than the score may suggest as the Lady T-Birds lost both the first and second set by just two points each.
Mesa holds a 9-12 overall record (5-6 ACCAC). They currently are on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason as they sit in the 5th spot when it comes to DII teams, just behind South Mountain CC.
Both the Lady T-Birds and the Cougars have five conference wins each. The two teams have split their season series so far but SMCC did get their victory in conference play giving them a slight edge in the standings.
Central Arizona College comes into play on Friday with a 3-13 overall record (2-7 ACCAC). They have won just one out of their last five matches with their lone victory coming against Phoenix College (3-0).
This match and all the matches down the stretch will prove vital for the Lady T-Birds down the stretch as with five matches left, if the cards fall Mesa's way there is a chance they might not only make the postseason, but have an opportunity to move up to the No. 2 seed.
However, all of that begins on Friday against CAC. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
