Mesa Track & Field brings home 23 All-Americans and two top 15 finishes at Indoor Nationals

Mesa Track & Field competed in the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Championships over the weekend and came home with some hardware.

Women:

The Lady T-Birds as a team finished tied for 11th place in the country as they tallied up a team score of 21 points.

Mesa had 12 athletes earn All-American honors in their respective events, while breaking two school records, and earning one National Runner-Up.

Reanna Campbell earned AA honors in the 600m event as she finished 7th (1:35.43). Taylor Jacobs also earned AA honors in the event as she finished fourth (1:32.08) as she broke the school record (1:33.76) which she had set back in 2023.

Maliyah Ross earned AA honors and the National Runner-Up title in the Pentathlon (3,524 points) as she also broke the school record of 3,399 points set by Samantha Henderson in 2009.

Natalie Brzezniak came in 7th in the Pentathlon (2,991 points) which earned her AA honors.

The MCC 4x4 relay team of Deshay Turner, Diane Ondobo, Reanna Campbell, and Taylor Jacobs finished 7th (3:48.14) earning AA honors. 

The 4x800 relay team of Kendra Guest, Natalie Brzezniak, Danna Martinez Porras, and Maliyah Ross finished 7th (9:43.62) to bring home AA honors.

Men:
The Thunderbird men finished the meet tied for 15th place in the country as they racked up 15 total points. Mesa had 11 athletes earn All-American honors in their respective events.

Jeremiah Reed earned AA honors in the Long Jump competition as he finished in 7th place (7.23m).

Samuel Green earned AA honors in the 800m event as he finished in 4th (1:52.93). Bradley Runge earned AA honors in the Heptathlon as he finished in 7th place (4676 points).

The T-Bird 4x400 relay team of Jalen Bradford, Darius Brown, Jovani Rivera, and Ousman Jagne finished in 7th place (3:14.14) earning them AA honors.

MCC's 4x800 relay team of Austin Rueff, Ernest Green, Samuel Van Alstine, and Greyson Akers finished in 6th place (7:47.36) as they also earned AA honors.

MCC has wrapped up their 2024 Indoor season and now set their sights on their Outdoor campaign which begins on March 14 as the T-Birds will compete in the PV Distance in the Dark meet hosted by Paradise Valley CC and the Mesa Multis which will be hosted at Mesa Community College.
