Women's Track & Field Finishes Second at ACCAC Championships

Glendale, AZ - The Thunderbirds women's track & field team finished as the runner-ups at the ACCAC T&F Championships on Friday.

Mesa went 4-1 against ACCAC competition. It is the second straight year the lady T-Birds have finished in second place.

MCC vs. Central Arizona College: 84 - 99

MCC vs. Pima CC: 119 - 64

MCC vs. Paradise Valley CC: 114 - 37

MCC vs. Glendale CC: 126 - 32

MCC vs. Phoenix College: 142 - 6

Additionally, Mesa had four conference champions (All-ACCAC first team) and five conference runner-ups (All-ACCAC second team) across 19 events.

Event Winners:

4x100m relay (Katherine Lemish, Diane Ondobo, Zaria Hamilton, and Zana Ryan) - 47.31 seconds

400m hurdles - K. Lemish - 1:04.02 (personal best)

3000m steeplechase - Kate Brockman - 11:32 (personal best and NJCAA outdoor nationals qualifying mark)

400m dash - Taylor Jacobs - 56.92 seconds

Event Runner-ups:

400m dash - Z. Hamilton - 57.19 seconds

110m hurdles - K. Lemish - 14.92 seconds (personal best)

5000m run - Lucy Lines - 19:13.76 (personal best)

4x400m relay (T. Jacobs, D. Ondobo, K. Lemish, and Z. Hamilton) - 3:50.51 (school record)

High jump - Natalie Brzezniak - 1.62 meters (personal best and NJCAA outdoor nationals qualifying mark)

 

Up next, the lady T-Birds will compete at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday in San Diego, CA.
