Women's Tennis makes strides during Fall season

Friday, September 29, 2023 - 1:45 p.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

MCC Women's Tennis has been hitting the court with intent so far in the 2023 fall season.

The Lady T-Birds have taken on Arizona Christian University, Ottawa University, and William Jessup University all in scrimmages so far.

Head coach Feroz Rast and his team are looking to bounce back from their runner up finish at the Region I Championship in the Spring. With four returners MCC will have key leadership in place to be able to make a run.

Two newcomers Mikaela Correa and Jackelin Almada Lopez have both shown that they are ready to make an impact on the team early on as they've played great through the first three Fall scrimmages.

"So great to see our team come out with some big time tennis against three top 25 NAIA programs (ACU, OUAZ, William Jessup). We have one of the toughest schedules to start and it will only make us stronger," said Rast, "big time wins early by freshman Mikaela Correa and Jackelin Almada Lopez. Both are playing dominate at the top!"

The Lady T-Birds will have two more home scrimmages in the month of Oct. as they will host GCU Club on the 14th, and NAU/ACU on the 21st.
