Season high from Taliman helps Lady T-Birds coast over South Mountain

No. 10 MCC Women's Basketball wins their 10th game of the season as they defeated South Mountain on Wednesday, 84-44. 

The Lady T-Birds came out on fire in the opening period tying a season high for points in a quarter with 29. MCC shot 13-20 from the field to start the game. Miquedah Taliman set the tone early as she hit three shots from distance.

The second quarter the Lady T-Birds would keep their scoring consistent, netting 20 points on 9-22 shooting from the floor. MCC forced 19 turnovers in the opening half and would take a 40-27 lead into the halftime locker room. 

In the second half Mesa would lock down defensively, allowing just 17 points on 25% shooting from the field in the second half MCC would outscore the Cougars, 35-17.

With the win Mesa's record improves to 10-4 (5-3 ACCAC). MCC will be back in action on Saturday as they host Scottsdale, tip-off at 2:00 p.m.

Breakout Thunderbirds:

  • Miquedah Taliman set a new season high in points (16) and three pointers made (four). Taliman also matched her season high in steals as she had five to go along with five rebounds.

  • Jaida Brooks was looking to dish early and often as she recorded seven assists in the first half (finishing with eight), as she also had 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had three steals.
