Phoenix, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the Phoenix College Bears 63-53 on Saturday afternoon, and couple that with the Cochise Apaches upsetting the Pima Aztecs, the T-Birds have now claimed the number one seed in the ACCAC DII Women's Basketball postseason tournament. This means Mesa will host a playoff game on Wednesday, March 2 and if they win that game, would then host the championship game that Saturday, March 5 as well.

With the victory, the Thunderbirds; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Poll, improve to 19-7 overall and 14-5 in ACCAC action. The T-Birds have won their last six straight games. With the loss, the Phoenix College Bears drop to 7-21 overall and 2-16 in ACCAC play.
