Taylor Tiulana Named ACCAC Player of the Week

MESA, AZ - For the fourth straight week, a player from the Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team has been named the ACCAC DII Women's Basketball Player of the Week. This week, freshman guard Taylor Tiulana earned the award for her performances against South Mountain and at Chandler-Gilbert.

Tiulana got the week started off right against South Mountain. Coming off the bench against the Cougars, Tiulana played 23 minutes and scored 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting. She also added six rebounds and one steal in the game. Overall this past week, Tiulana averaged 17points a game and also added nine total rebounds, along with an assist and one steal.

As a team, the T-Birds have won five straight games and have improved to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in ACCAC play. Mesa currently sits in first place in the ACCAC DII standings and went from receiving votes in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Poll to climbing to 20th in the Nation.

The Thunderbirds return to action this Wednesday when they travel south to Yuma to face the 16th ranked Arizona Western College Lady Matadors. Tip time is slated for 5:30 pm.
