Yavapai, Phoenix, win Region I softball titles

  Yavapai and Phoenix are headed to the NJCAA Softball National Championships in Divisions I and II respectively after capturing Region I championships.

  YC won its title by coming through the losers' bracket to score 10-0 and 20-4 victories over Central Arizona Saturday. The Roughriders won their second straight championship after falling to CAC Friday, 5-3.

  The national championship will be held May 24-28 in Yuma, AZ.

  PC went unbeaten in the Division II event, beginning with a 6-1 win over Glendale Friday and culminating with a 6-1 victory over Chandler-Gilbert Saturday.

  The Division II national championship will be held May 24-28 in Oxford, Ala., as the Bears go after the second straight title.
