Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds traveled to Thatcher on Tuesday afternoon, for a conference doubleheader at Eastern Arizona College. The Gila Monsters defeated the T-Birds twice in run-rule fashion. In game one, Eastern Arizona won 10-2 in five innings and took game two 15-2; also in five-innings.
With the pair of losses, the Thunderbirds fall to 0-6 overall and 0-6 in ACCAC play. With the victories, Eastern Arizona improves to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in ACCAC action. The Gila Monsters have now won five straight games.
It was a rough day Tuesday for the Thunderbirds, as they headed south to face the hot Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters. EAC defeated the Thunderbirds in run-rule fashion in both games of a conference doubleheader in Thatcher.
In game one, Eastern Arizona scored at least one run in each inning. Mesa scored a run in the fourth and another in the fifth inning. The Gila Monsters claimed a 10-2 victory in game one.
The Gila Monster bats picked up where they left off in game one during the second game of the double-dip. Mesa scored two quick runs on Eastern in the top of the first inning, before the Gila Monsters rattled off 14 runs in the next three innings.
The Thunderbirds return home this Saturday for a conference doubleheader against Chandler-Gilbert. The first pitch is set for 12 Noon.
