Javier Garcia signs with T-Birds XC and T&F

Mesa, Ariz. - The Thunderbirds' men's cross country and track programs have added one of the top distance athletes in the state with the signing of Javier Garcia out of Gilbert High School. 

Garcia has so far earned All-State honors three times during his high school career. Finishing in sixth place in all three instances at the 2020 and 2021 AIA Division II State Cross Country Championships, along with at the 2021 AIA Division II State Track & Field Championships in the 3200 meter run.

Garcia also helped the Tigers' men's cross country team win the state title in 2020.

"I'm very excited to welcome Javier to the Thunderbird program," says Head Cross Country Coach Dan Pescador. "He's one of the top runners in the state and knows what it takes to be a champion. I believe Javier can be one of the top runners in the nation next fall. Welcome aboard Javi!"
