Both Cross Country Teams Ranked Third in Week Five Poll

New Orleans, LA - The Thunderbirds' men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked third in the Week Five NJCAA Division II Coaches' Poll. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the poll on Wedensday.

In the men's poll, Cowley College remains the number one ranked team, recieving 12 of the 13 first-place votes. Daytona State moved up to number two overall, while the T-Birds dropped one spot to third, but were still able to earn the remaining first-place vote. Lansing CC and Heartland CC round out the top five teams at number four and five respectively.

In the women's poll, Lansing CC and Heartland CC switched spots at first and second overall, with the Stars earning nine of the 13 first-place votes and the Hawks earning two first-place votes. The T-Birds moved up two spots to third overall after putting on a dominant performance at the Region I Championships and earned the remaining two first-place votes. Wallace State and Cowley College round out the top five teams.

This will be the final poll before the Division II National Championships on November 13th. The meet will take place at Pole Green Park near Richmond, Virginia.
