Glendale, Ariz. - The Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country teams competed in their last regular season meet of the 2021 season at the ACU Invitational Saturday morning. A sizeable amount of athletes from both teams sat out this meet in preparation for postseason competition.

Masen Hofmann was the top T-Bird for the men's team, finishing in seventh place with a time of 27:58 on the 8000-meter course. Kaleb Ross (10th, 28:22.4), Tomas Martin (11th, 28:46.1), Ivan Duran (29th, 30:42.8), and Patrick Tress (40th, 32:28.2) were the remaining scorers for the men's team.

Tanaeya Johnson earned a runner-up finish in the women's race, running a time of 19:50.8 on the 5000-meter course. Anna Harmon (24th, 22:50.2) and Viviana Tavena (35th, 32:32.4) also competed for the women's team.

Overall, the men finished third in the team scoring with 81 points. The women's team did not score in this meet. ACU were the team champions for both races.

"Very good races from those that competed," says Head Coach Dan Pescador. "It was a really good tune up as we head into regionals and nationals. Masen had a very great race, though the result doesn't reflect it, as there was an error with course direction. Tanaeya and Anna ran great and exectued the things we wanted to work on. They're ready to be at their best for regionals and nationals."

The first of two postseason races will be next Friday, October 29th. As the NJCAA Region I Cross Country Championships will take place at Glendale Heroes Regional Park.
