Bradley Runge finished in first place at the NJCAA Region I Multis on Tuesday, crowning him champion.

Runge finished the decathlon with 6489 points beating Pima's Broden Cahoon by just over 100 points (6373).

Runge had an exceptional day on Tuesday as he finished first in the 110m hurdles and the discus throw  while coming in second in the pole vault and javelin throw. The win was secured for Runge in the 1500m race as he just needed to hold his own against Cahoon who was in second place.

With a two second quicker finish Runge would cement himself as Region I Multis Champion.

Teammate Myles Larsen would come in third place (6281) as he made a strong push for the title on day two as he won the pole vault, javelin throw, and came in second in the 1500m.

On the women's side Mesa's lone competitor Maliyah Ross came in second in the Heptathlon as she scored 4604 points coming just short against Central Arizona's Aliyah Gidharry who had 4856 points.

Ross excelled in the 800m beating the second place finisher by 13 seconds, while also finishing second in the long jump. However, the gap to close between her and Gidharry was too much as Ross would take home runner-up honors.

Mesa will now turn their attention to the NJCAA Region I Championship on April 30 and May 2, each will be held at Mesa Community College.
