Mesa Track and Field opened their season at the NAU Axe 'Em Indoor

The Mesa Thunderbird Men's and Women's Track & Field team opened up their 2024 season at the NAU Axe 'Em Indoor Open on Jan. 12.

 

Thunderbird Men:

The T-Bird Men competed well in their first meet of the season.

Jeremiah Reed met qualifying marks for indoor nationals in the long jump as he hit the 7.35m mark.

Nathan Jacobson was also able to qualify for indoor nationals in the pole vault event with a 4.45m showing.

 

Lady T-Birds:

MCC Women's Track & Field were able to have five athletes qualify for indoor nationals with excellent showings in their first meet.

Marisa Hennix qualified in the triple jump as she was able to successfully complete the event from the 11.45m mark.

Maliyah Ross qualified in the long jump as she was able to successfully complete 5.55m.

Carmella Baldwin who is coming off an excellent freshman season in Cross Country qualified for the 3000m event as she clocked a time of 11:07.49.

Taylor Jacobs had a strong showing in the 600m as she qualified for the event with a 1:38.11 time.

Deshay Turner hit the qualifying mark in the 60m event, clocking in a 7.62 time.

 

MCC Track and Field will be back in action on Friday and Saturday as they travel to Tucson, AZ to compete in the Pima Multis & Indoor, hosted by Pima Community College.
