Samuel Green breaks school record as MCC Track & Field competes in Jim Mielke Memorial Invitational

MCC Track and Field made a trip down to Tucson over the weekend as they participated in the Jim Mielke Memorial Invitational hosted by Pima Community College.

Women's Track and Field:
Marisa Hennix earned a personal best in the 60m hurdles as she clocked in a time of 9.85. After qualifying for the 600m last week, Taylor Jacobs improved her time in the event as she set a season best mark of 1:37.58, Jacobs also qualified for the 1000m with a time of 3:05.67

Deshay Turner qualified for the 400m as she clocked a time of 57.30. After qualifying for the triple jump last week Hennix continued her strong start to the season, qualifying and earning a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 5.60m.

Zamirah Parker earned a season best in the event as well as she hit from 5.13m, Parker also earned a season best mark in the triple jump, as she earned a mark of 10.43m. Raely Palmer qualified in the pole vault event as she was successful at 3.10m.

Maleah Tucker qualified in the weight throw event as she hit 14.92m.

The Women's 4x400 meter relay team qualified and had a season best time as Diane Ondobo, Deshay Turner, Reanna Campbell, and Taylor Jacbos clocked a time of 3:58.54.

Men's Track and Field:

Jovani Rivera was able to qualify in the 600m as he clocked a time of 1:21.51. Zion Atwood was able to hit a personal record in the event as he recorded a time of 1:28.27.

Samuel Green qualified and hit a personal best in the 1000m event as he clocked 2:30.67. Green's brother Ernest also qualified as he finished in 2:30.82. Greyson Akers was able to hit a personal record in the event as he finished in 2:32.30.

Samuel Green broke the school's mile record of 4:14.05 set by Youtel Garcia as Green was able to finish in 4:13.69. Ernest Green was so close to also breaking Garcia's mark as he came in at 4:14.10. Greyson Akers (4:29.08), Austin Rueff (4:29.12), Gabriel Gonzales (4:31.86), Kai Robinson (4:36.86), and Wyatt Willams (4:52.75) all earned personal bests in the mile.

Ousman Jange qualified for the long jump as he earned a mark of 7.11m. Jackson Anway earned a personal best with 6.42m as well as the triple jump as he hit for 12.59m.

The team will be back in action on Saturday as they participate in the Puma Indoor hosted by Paradise Valley Community College.
