Garcia Breaks 10K School Record at Mesa Outdoor Invite

Mesa, AZ - The Thunderbirds men's track & field team hosted the Mesa Outdoor Invitational on Friday night.

In the 10,000m run, Yotuel Garcia demolished his own school record and hit an outdoor nationals qualifying time with a 31:07.43 performance. Javier Garcia (31:55.87), Yael Caballero (32:29.49), and Wyatt Williams (32:51.10) also hit qualifying times for the event.

Both Tyson Tippett and Y. Garcia were double event winners. Tippett in the 100m (10.43) and 200m (21.20). Y. Garcia in the 800m (1:54.40) and the 10K.

Other event winners included the 4x100m & 4x400m relays (40.26 and 3:14.21), Jeremiah Reed (long jump - 6.99m), and Noah Miller (shot put - 15.18m).

Ernest Green (3:58.32), Samuel Green (3:58.59), and Hayden Gelder (3:58.85) each ran PB times in the 1500m and finished 2-3-4.

Other second-place finishers included Miles Fears (110m hurdles - 14.97 PB), Donovan Castillo (400m - 47.49), Emitt Post (javelin throw - 45.06m PB), and Ousman Jagne (long jump - 6.90m).

The T-Birds will compete in the Canyon Invitational this weekend at Grand Canyon University.
