Men's TF Adds Five Qualifiers at Willie Williams

Tucson, AZ - The Thunderbirds men's track & field team had five new athletes hit qualifying marks at the Willie Williams Classic this past weekend.

Yotuel Garcia (6th - 3:55.47), Ernest Green (3:59.03 PB), Hayden Gelder (3:59.14 PB), and Samuel Green (3:59.93 PB) all hit qualifying times in the 1500m.

Ousman Jagne (6th - 10.47 PB) and Khamis Hassan (8th - 10.51 PB) each qualified in the 100m dash. Tyson Tippett finished in third place (10.40).

Jacob Samford (4th - 47.25) and Joshua Anderson (48.20 PB) each hit qualifying times in the 400m dash.

Both Greyson Akers (9:53.82 PB) and Samuel Van Alstine (9:55.66 PB) improved their times in the 3000m steeplechase, but were just a few seconds shy of the qualifying standard.

Noah Miller threw a PB mark of 46.09m in the discus throw, but missed the qualifying standard by 0.49m.

The 4x100m relay team (Hassan, Jagne, Tippett, and Samford) finished in second place with a time of 39.78 seconds.

Jeremiah Reed was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.09m. Devin Jackson was sixth in the 110m hurdles with a PB time of 15.17 seconds.

The T-Birds will compete at the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Championships this Friday in Glendale.
