Track and field concludes indoor season at Mesa Indoor

Mesa, Ariz. - The T-Birds hosted their first meet of the 2021 track and field season with the Mesa Indoor Meet at John D. Riggs Stadium on Saturday. However, this will be their last indoor meet of the season after the Maricopa Community College District voted earlier this week that all MCCCD schools will be prohibited from competing in the 2021 NJCAA National Indoor Championships due to concerns with COVID-19.

On the men's side, Noah Clark won the 600 meters in a new personal best of 1:24.94. Andrew McCumber (Unattached) and Nathan Mann earned second and third places finishes in the mile, with Mann earning a new personal best of 4:26.50. In the field events, Noah Miller won the shot put with a throw of 47-6.

Among the women, Mary Siml (Unattached), Ellis Collins, and Tanaeya Johnson went 1-2-3 in the mile, with Siml (5:22.78) and Collins (5:26.80) recording new personal bests in the event. Azaria Brown won the long jump with a new personal best mark of 4.58 meters. Julianna Perez won the shot put with a throw of 36-6.

Next week's Mesa Invitational will be moved to March 6th and will be converted to an outdoor meet to officially start the outdoor portion of the season.
