Men's tennis blanks Glendale, 9-0; women win by forfeit

Mesa, AZ – Winning all five singles matches that were played in straight sets, the Mesa men's tennis team shutout Glendale, 9-0, in ACCAC action Thursday. The win lifts MCC's record to 2-3 and 2-0 in conference play. All of the losses have come to four-year schools.

The T-Bird women, meanwhile, won their match with the Gauchos by forfeit.

"Dominating win today and I loved our energy," said Head Coach Feroz Rast. "Conference match-ups are always tough and I thought we came out focused and determined to control every point.

"Very happy to finish off the week with a big win. We defended our home court against PVCC and GCC and we know it will be a much tougher match next time at their house.

"I look for us to continue to work on things and improve our game. Highlights of the day were the play of sophomore Duncan Mulenga who played number 1 and dominated! Also Cade Yorston made his first match of the season count as he won in singles and doubles.  Very proud of Cade and his readiness and championship mindset. "

Next up for the men will be a match at Paradise Valley on March 9. The women's match that day has been cancelled. The women will next play Pratt CC at home on March 13.
