New Mexico State stops men's tennis, 7-0

Flagstaff, AZ - NCAA Division I New Mexico State ended the Mesa men's tennis team's string on four straight matches against four-year schools with a 7-0 win over the T-Birds Saturday at Northern Arizona University.

"We played much better today than yesterday, noted MCC head coach Feroz Rast.. " The guys really came out with a lot of energy and played confident against one of the top teams in the WAC.

"I liked how we were playing doubles and almost pulled out the win on court 1. Singles saw many close matches also. I was very impressed with Beto (Carlon) and Cameron (Khan) as they lost very close sets.

"I am glad how much growth we have shown over the toughest part of our schedule.  We start conference play next week and we are definitely going to be battle tested now."

The T-Birds begin ACCAC play Tuesday by travelling to Paradise Valley for a 1:30 p.m. match.
