Men's and women's tennis fall at four-year Ottawa (AZ)

The Mesa tennis teams continued their tradition of playing the best possible schedule in an effort to prepare for the NJCAA Division I national championships. To that end the teams took on four-year Ottawa's varsity Tuesday, The men fell, 7-2 and the women lost a close decision, 5-4.

"It was a great matchup against OUAZ for both men and women" said head coach Feroz Rast. "We started out with singles, which is different, but I thought we played very well. We had some very close matches on both sides but just couldn't finish them out.

"I am very happy with the progress we are making and know we will learn from this match. Great wins by Duncan Mulenga and Arturo Salvo on the guy's side. For the ladies, freshman Kylie Williams continues her strong season with another dominant win in singles. Time to get ready for region play for the ladies as we host the highly-ranked Eastern Arizona team on Thursday."

The T-Birds will be at home against the Gila Monsters. EAC does not have a men's team. The men will travel to Flagstaff where they will take on Northern Arizona Friday and New Mexico State Saturday.
