No. 14 Men's Soccer battles No. 4 Phoenix College in Region I Semi-Finals on Wednesday

No. 14 MCC Men's Soccer takes to the road Wednesday night for the Region I Semi-Finals against No. 4 Phoenix College.

In the field of four (Pima CC, Phoenix College, MCC, Glendale CC) the Thunderbirds enter postseason play as the three seed while the Bears come in as the two seed.

Mesa:

Mesa comes into the postseason with a 7-2-5 overall record and a 5-1-5 conference mark. 

MCC has had a lot of exciting and close matches this season, they began the year against Phoenix and played them well for a good majority of the match until the 59th minute when the Bears scored three goals within four minutes to take the lead and eventually the victory.

The T-Birds would then go undefeated for over a month as they were 3-0-4 in their next seven games including a 1-1 tie against PC before they would finally fall to Pima CC 4-1 on Oct. 3.

In their last five games of the season MCC went 4-0-1 with wins over Paradise Valley, GateWay, Chandler-Gilbert, and South Mountain.

MCC played extremely well against their DI foes as they went undefeated on the year with a 1-0-2 record. Their lone win being against Yavapai College, 3-2.

Mesa is led in scoring by Abdiel Beltran who has six on the year followed by Fariel Corrales who has five.

Phoenix: 

The Bears enter the postseason with a 10-1-2 overall mark and a 8-1-2 conference record.

PC has had a great season with their lone loss coming against Glendale CC (3-0), the Bears had six wins of three goals or more while climbing as high as No. 1 in the national rankings.

Phoenix started off the season in dominant fashion, winning their first five games before tying their next two against MCC and Arizona Western. PC finished the regular season out strong as they went 5-1 in their finals six games while outsourcing their opponents, 22-4. 

The Bears are led in scoring Ezekiel Anaya with eight goals followed quickly by teammate Alex Huguez with seven.

The match will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will take place at Phoenix College.
