Men's soccer soars to national tournment

For the first time in program history the men's soccer team will compete in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

After a 12-4-1 season, the team was able to secure an at-large bid and earn the 7th seed in the field of 12 and will compete in Pool B. The T-Birds postseason run ended in a defeat by Pima in the semi-finals 3-1. Pima would go on to lose in the finals to Phoenix in penalty kicks. 

The tournament runs from Nov. 14-19 and will take place at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ.

The team will take on #11 Prairie State College on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 12:30 pm. The Pioneers last game was an overtime loss to Morton College in the district final. Prairie State comes into the tournament with a 16-4 while scoring 3.45 goals per contest and allowing only 1.43 goals per contest.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 pm the T-Birds will take on #2 Jones College. The Bobcats come into the tournament with a perfect 15-0 record after winning their district finals matchup against Pearl River. Jones College comes in scoring 3.67 goals a game, while allowing less than one goal per contest. 

The winner of each pool will advance to play in the national semifinals on Friday, Nov. 18.
