Men's golf stands second after first day of Thunderbird Classic

  MESA, AZ - The Mesa men's golf team stood in second place, six shots behind South Mountain, after the first day of the Thunderbird Classic at the Lone Tree G.C. Saturday.

  Mesa shot an even-par 284, to SMCC's 278.

  Alex Trevino (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Mesaquite H.S.) fired a three-under 68 to pace the T-Birds.

  Austin Fletcher (So., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe (AZ) H.S.) was tied for eighth with a one-under 70 and T.J. Katherineberg was tied for tenth at 72.
