Mesa, AZ - The Phoenix College Bears used a strong second half to propel them to victory over the Mesa Thunderbirds, 73-64 on Monday evening inside of Theo Heap Gymnasium.

It has been a similar story this season for T-Birds; a tale of two halves. In the first half, everything was firing on all cylinders for Mesa. The Thunderbirds outscored the Bears 33-26 in the first 20 minutes of play. MCC shot 48% from the field while limiting the Bears to a shooting percentage of just 29%.

The second half got off to a great start for the Thunderbirds, but things quickly headed south around the 11-minute mark. Mesa held a 56-39 lead with 11:11 remaining in the contest. From there until the final buzzer, Phoenix College outscored the Thunderbirds 34-8.

In the loss, three Thunderbirds scored in double-figures. Quincy Reece led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds. Timmy Johnson finished with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tampa Scott IV finished with a team-high seven assists, along with seven points and four rebounds.

The Thunderbirds return to the hardwood this Wednesday for their regular-season finale inside of Theo Heap Gymnasium. Mesa hosts the Glendale Gauchos with the opening tip scheduled for 7:30 pm.
