Glendale, AZ - Mesa traveled west Monday for a make-up game at Glendale Community College. The Gauchos led most of the way, on the way to an 80-65 victory.
With the loss, Mesa has now dropped their last six straight and fallen to 4-15 overall and 2-12 in ACCAC action. With the victory, Glendale improves to 14-10 overall and climbs closer to the .500 mark in ACCAC play, at 7-8 overall.
The first half was one to forget for the Thunderbirds on Monday. After 20 minutes of play, the Gauchos took a commanding 48-21 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Thunderbirds did their best to flip the script. They managed to outscore the Gauchos 44-32, but still fell in the end. Mesa struggled to shoot all evening, connecting on just 36% of their shot attempts. Glendale on the other hand hit 44% of the shots they took.
Two players finished in double-figure scoring, led by BJ Burries' 17 points. Quincy Reece added 15 points off of the bench.
The Thunderbirds will remain on the road, as they travel to Tucson on Wednesday to face 20th ranked Pima. The Aztecs are currently the top team in the ACCAC DII Men's Basketball standings, with an overall record of 16-9 and 8-8 in ACCAC action. Tip time is slated for 5:30 pm.
