Douglas, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds fell on Saturday evening to the 24th ranked Cochise College Apaches, by a final of 99-56 in Douglas.
With the loss, the Thunderbirds drop to 4-10 overall and 2-7 in ACCAC action. With the victory, the 24th ranked Cochise College Apaches improve to 20-2 overall and 11-1 in ACCAC play.
The T-Birds ran into a hot Apaches squad on Saturday. Cochise had dropped their previous game and looked to erase that loss as quickly as they could. Cochise pounced on Mesa early and never looked back.
The Cochise offense attacked for 99 points while limiting Mesa to just 56 points on 30.5% from the field. Mesa had three players finish in double-figures scoring. Quincy Reece led the way with 21 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while also finishing 11-of-13 from the free-throw line. Tampa Scott IV added 11 points and BJ Burries finished with 10 points while going a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
The Mesa Thunderbirds return home this Wednesday to host South Mountain Community College. The women will get things started at 5:30 pm, followed by the men at 7:30 pm. Both games will be live-streamed online here: https://mesatbirdsports.com/live.
