Men's basketball's first win a big one, top Central Arizona on the road

It may have taken a few games, but Mesa's first men's basketball win of the year was a big one.

It came on the road against one of the ACCAC's top teams, Central Arizona (9-2, 3-2), when MCC (1-5,1-4) won, 72-65 Wednesday.

The T-Birds got the best game of the year from Timmy Johnson who made all five of his shots from the floor, including three three-pointers. B.J. Burries and Quincy Reece each contributed 11 points and eight rebounds. Matthew Lenger went 5-9 from the floor and added ten points off the bench.

Mesa has another tough test coming up Saturday as it hosts the No. 12 team in Division II, Pima (8-3, 3-3) in Theo Heap Gym and 4 p.m.
