Phoenix scored in the latter innings of both games and scored a sweep of a home-and-home baseball series Friday and Saturday.
The Bears (28-19, 16-14) took the first game at home, 14-5 (7) and then won at Mesa (22-25, 10-24), 7-1.
Game One Recap
PC led, 4-2, going into the fifth inning, but broke the game open with five in the fifth. They the added four more in the seventh. For MCC, Jacob Roybal had two hits including a double and an RBI, while Chase Burke added two with a triple and an RBI.
Game Two Recap
Colton Vercoe was solid on the mound for the T-Birds, going six innings, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out six. However, Phoenix bunched five runs in the eighth and ninth innings to pull away.
Mesa scored its only run on successive doubles in the ninth by Connor Culp an Lucas Danielewicz. Roybal had two more hits in the game.
MCC will host the Grand Canyon University Club team Tuesday at home at 3:00 p.m.
