Friday May 3, 2024 - 8:00 p.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

Mesa Beach Volleyball went 1-1 in their final day of pool play which earned them a spot in the championship bracket as the No. 4 seed.

The Lady T-Birds dominated their contest against No. 8 seed Trinidad State College winning, 5-0. MCC then faced No. 3 seed State College of Florida and lost the battle, 3-2.

Mesa's No. 1 pairing of Amaya Evans and Taylor Erickson continued to play well as they went 2-0 on the day and improved their tournament record to 3-1.

Mesa will take on No. 5 Lake-Sumter State College. LSS is 3-1 so far in the championship with their only loss coming to No. 3 Richard Bland College.

If Mesa wins they will move on to take on the No. 1 seed Palm Beach State, if the T-Birds lose they will find themselves in the 5th place bracket. Head coach Jordan Herrington is pleased with how her players have risen to the occasion thus far in the tournament.

"This team has played so hard up until this point, we have faced both the #1 and #2 team in the tournament, so we know what it takes to win, we have some girls playing so big time volleyball lead by our #1 pair Amaya and Taylor," said Herrington, "I'm so excited heading into bracket play tomorrow and excited to see how these girls show up!"

Mesa will begin their match against Lake-Sumter College at 6:00 a.m. local time, the result of their first contest will determine the time of their second match.
