Tempe, Ariz. - The Thunderbird's beach volleyball team won their final match of the season versus the South Mountain CC Cougars Friday afternoon by a score of 3-2.

The T-Birds won the first three sets of the match. Madison McNulty and Morgan McNulty won 2-0 (21-11, 21-8). Jessica Goldsmith and Taylor Van Winkle won 2-0 (21-10, 21-17). Karla Ramirez and Maggie Scranton won 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).

In the fourth set, Maci Lopeman and Cassidee Wakefield narrowly lost 0-2 (19-21, 16-21). The fifth and final set was a loss by forfeit. The T-Birds wrap up their season with a record of 1-6.

Today was Maggie Scranton's last match representing the T-Birds as she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Park University Gilbert next year.

"The girls played great today," says Head Coach Taylor Peterson. "They came out ready to compete as this was their final match of the season. Each team was able to control their duals for the majority of both their sets. Maggie Scranton was able to finish her JC career off with a two-set win with her partner Karla Ramirez before heading to Park University Gilbert to continue her collegiate career in their indoor and beach volleyball programs."
