Cougars Prevail Past Thunderbirds 3-2

Tempe, Ariz. - The Mesa Thunderbirds beach volleyball squad dropped their first conference match of the season on Friday afternoon at South Mountain. The Cougars edged the T-Birds, 3-2.
With the loss, Mesa drops to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in ACCAC action. With the victory, South Mountain improves to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in ACCAC play.
"Each pair fought throughout their duals today," said Mesa's interim head coach Tayler Peterson. "Our #2 pair were able to control the momentum of their dual early on. Our #4 pair fought hard in both sets coming from behind the majority of their dual, and our #1 and #3 pairs' battled in their three-set duals; with both having slow starts."
Coach Peterson continued, "Our #3 pair pushed and controlled the second set, but couldn't finish in the final set. The McNulty twins had a slow start to their dual, but were able to reset prior to set two and take care of business the final two sets."

The Thunderbirds return to the sand next Friday, April 1 to battle against the Park University - Gilbert Buccaneers. The match will be played on a neutral site at Ottawa University in Surprise.
