Men's and Women's Cross Country Each Finish in Top Ten at Biola Invite

La Miranda, CA - The men's and women's cross country competed at the Biola University Invite and had tremendous finishes as they both finished in the top 10.

"I think for a season opener, we couldn't have competed any better," said head cross country coach Daniel Pescador, "We came in with specific race plans and both teams executed those plans."

Competing against very good NCAA division 2 schools, both teams came away with a 7th place overall finish.

"I am extremely proud how both groups came here to compete and hold their own against very good competition," said Coach Pescador.

Zach Harrach led the way for the men's team as he ran a very big personal best for his first sub 25 min clocking for an 8k and finished 5th overall.

"I was very pleased with how Zach ran today. He stuck with the lead pack from the get go and never faded. Zach has put in a big summer and it showed today as to the level that he's at," said Coach Pescador.

Allyson Girard led the way for the women's team, as she ran to a top 30 placing clocking 18:05 and finished 28th overall.

"I thought Allyson had a good season opener for the team. It wasn't entirely what she hoped for, but she fought hard the last half of the race. I was very proud with how she was aggressive and competed with some of the best in Division 2," said Coach Pescador.

Both teams will have the weekend off as they prepare for conference in two weeks, hosted by Central Arizona College.
